The Upper Barrakka Gardens is hosting an Eco Festival this weekend.

Celebrate 40 years of Central Public Library

The Central Public Library – Malta in Floriana is hosting an event-packed morning for all the family on Saturday as it celebrates 40 years in operation.

There will be readings, face painting, games, crafts, virtual reality experiences, puppet shows and more.

The event is taking place between 9am and 1pm. Entrance is free.

Eco Festival Malta

A festival taking place at the Upper Barrakka Gardens between this weekend is celebrating environmental sustainability and climate action, with activities for all the family.

Besides an eco-friendly market with sustainable products and services, from clothing and accessories to household items, beauty products and wellness services, there is a range of fun and educational activities, including eco-art workshops, upcycling challenges and an interactive game about endangered species.

There is also a range of healthy plant-based food options from local suppliers. Various musicians are also taking part in the event, which is from Friday to Sunday from 10am until 11.30pm. For more information, visit the event’s Facebook page.

The event is organised by Eco Market Malta and Scie Eventi.

Sparkfest

The family friendly event Sparkfest is opening Refugee Week Malta with a day of activities on Sunday.

The event is aimed at celebrating and connecting people from all walks of life, including locals, ex-pats, migrants and refugees. It is taking place on Sunday from 2 to 11pm at Balzunetta Gastropub, the Boċċi club and the Hockey pitch, Floriana.

For this year’s edition, Spark15 is collaborating with Dance Beyond Borders who have supported the artistic curation of this event. Sparkfest is supported by Flutter, Medina Asset Management and the Association for Peace, Justice and Equality.

Watch The Little Mermaid

The much-awaited live-action film The Little Mermaid is currently showing in local cinemas.

Co-produced by Walt Disney Pictures, Lucamar Productions, and Marc Platt Productions, the film is an adaptation of Disney’s 1989 animated picture of the same name and which is loosely based on the 1837 fairy tale of the same title by Hans Christian Andersen.

It stars the beautiful Halle Bailey as Ariel, the curious mermaid princess who is fascinated with the human world. Other cast members include Jonah Hauer-King, Melissa McCarthy and Javier Bardem.

The film is showing in 2D and also 3D at the Eden Cinemas in St Julian’s, Embassy Cinemas in Valletta and Galleria Cinema in Fgura.
