A Wizards of Waverly Place reboot is in the works

The beloved Disney Channel comedy is coming back, with Selena Gomez and her on-screen brother, David Henrie, producing it.

Disney Branded Television recently requested a reboot pilot for its hit comedy series, Wizards of Waverly Place (WoWP), with the series expected to be produced by the original WoWP siblings, Selena Gomez and David Henrie!

WoWP, created by Todd J Greenwald, aired on the Disney Channel between October 2007 and January 2012. The American fantasy teen sitcom focused on Alex Russo, played by Selena Gomez. In fact, this role is considered by many to be the one that helped launch the superstar’s career.

According to reports, the revival will continue from the incident that took place at WizTech, the boarding school for wizards, and will centre around Justin Russo, who has since got married, had two sons, and given up his powers. Russo, however, must make the difficult decision of taking up his powers again in order to train a young wizard and help save the Wizard World.

The character of Justin Russo will once again be played by David Henrie, while his on-screen sister, played by Gomez, will return only for the pilot. Henrie will also be joined by a slew of new faces, including Janice LeAnn Brown, Alkaio Thiele, and Mimi Gianopulos.

It is yet unclear when Disney will launch the new series but, of course, we’ll keep you posted!
