Croatia’s Dubrovnik is a UNESCO World Heritage site.

If you’re looking to get away this summer but you still want the sun and sea of the Mediterranean, I’ve got a few must-visit towns and cities for you.

Dubrovnik, Croatia

Often referred to as the ‘Pearl of the Adriatic’, Dubrovnik is renowned for its stunning mediaeval architecture and well-preserved city walls. The Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage site. It’s filled with narrow streets, baroque buildings, and historic churches.

Cadaqués, Spain

Cadaqués is a picturesque village in Costa Brava that is a known haven for artists like Salvador Dalí. The town offers a timeless charm thanks to its white-washed houses and narrow, winding streets. The waterfront is filled with traditional fishing boats and inviting seafood restaurants.

Kotor, Montenegro

As one of the Adriatic’s best-preserved mediaeval towns, Kotor is a secluded town buried within the secluded bay of Kotor. The town is enclosed in high city walls, which makes Kotor’s old town a labyrinth of cobblestone streets, historic buildings, and charming squares.

Nafplio, Greece

Located on the Peloponnesian coast, Nafplio is one of Greece’s most romantic towns. You’ll find neoclassical mansions and lively squares filled with cafes and boutiques. That’s not to mention the waterfront promenade that is perfect for a leisurely stroll with a view of the sea and the surrounding mountains.

Nice, France

As the largest city on the French Riviera, Nice offers a combination of a rich history and a vibrant modern culture. Stroll down the Promenade de Anglais with a view of the Mediterranean before heading to the Old Town to experience the colourful buildings, museums, and local markets.
