Charm bracelets are back

And we have Charlie XCX to thank.
The Charli braxcxlet”from Ian Charms.

Back in the 90s and Noughties, charm bracelets were all the rage: from plastic charms that included colourful dummies to the later Pandora craze that saw thousands collecting and exchanging their tiny keepsakes, charms were the ‘It’ thing to wear.

Well, the love of charms has now bubbled over once again, with Gen Z helping them achieve an epic revival. The comeback includes Pandora charm unboxings on TikTok, charm bars cropping up all over big cities, and small jewellery makers reporting huge demands for weird and wonderful charms that showcase the wearer’s personality, talents, and love of music, books, and much more.

Somewhat unsurprisingly, one of the biggest sellers of the year in the realm of charms has been the “Charli braxcxlet” created by Lisa Sahakian of Ian Charms. Sahakian is renowned for making jewellery for loads of celebrities, but the “Charli braxcxlet” is the result of her love for Charli XCX’s latest album, Brat

While living her best brat summer—which is how many are dubbing summer 2024 following the release of the album—Sahakian designed a series of charms reminiscent of the album’s theme, including an alien, a heart, a motorcycle, spiky gel balls, and dice. This has become her much-loved company’s biggest-selling item ever.

Following this success, many companies around the world are now capitalising on the trend too, with Marc Jacobs, Tiffany & Co, Vivienne Westwood, and Pandora being among the many high-end brands promoting their charm bracelets once again.

Would you wear these in 2024? Let us know!
