Sauvage Eau Forte may be the latest interpretation of Dior’s blockbuster perfume, but it’s its innovative and revolutionary formula that’s grabbing all the headlines.
Created by one of the world’s most influential and famous perfumers, Francis Kurkdjian, Sauvage Eau Forte is one of the world’s first perfumes to have a water-based formula, rather than one that’s based on alcohol.
The concept uses a technique called nano-emulsion, which blends very concentrated fragrance oils with a water-based solution, leading to cutting-edge perfumery the likes of which have rarely been seen.
The luxury fragrance is part of Dior’s Sauvage line, which is considered to be the world’s best-selling perfume, with estimates stating that one bottle sells somewhere around the world every three seconds. As such, the brand is strong enough to have multiple reinterpretations, namely the Eau de Toilette, which has notes of Bergamot, Pepper, and Amberwood; the Eau de Parfum, with notes of Bergamot, Patchouli, and Vanilla; the Parfum, with Mandarin, Tonka Bean, and Sandalwood; and the Elixir, with Citrus, Spices, Lavender, and Rich Woods.
Aptly, Sauvage Eau Forte has been inspired by cascading waterfalls, and has notes of fresh and aromatic spices, as well as Woody Amber. Moreover, the formula itself helps give it a freshness that goes beyond the notes.
