Released in 1968, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is undoubtedly one of the most famous and influential children’s musicals of all time, with its hold on popular culture never waning.

Now, Eon Productions, the studio behind films like James Bond’s No Time to Die and Spectre, is teaming up with Amazon MGM Studios to bring the magical story to a whole new generation.

So far, very little is known about the project, especially as it’s only about to enter the production stage. In fact, the studios are still looking for writers and a director, and casting hasn’t even started yet.

Even so, we can probably expect some pretty exciting things from this collaboration, especially as the story of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang lends itself perfectly to the advanced CGI and special effects of the 21st century.

It’s also quite poignant that Eon Productions is working on the project, as the story is based on a book by the same author as James Bond’s: Ian Fleming’s 1964 Chitty-Chitty-Bang-Bang: The Magical Car.

The story of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is set in the 1910s, when two young children living in rural England beg their father to save a racecar from being scrapped. From then on, the film takes many twists and turns, with the family meeting a wealthy heiress, joining a song-and-dance act, and even ending up in a mysterious world.
The remake of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang will most likely be released sometime in late 2027 or early 2028.
