2024 was a big year for hair: Parisian dressage inspired a whole trend over the summer, Miley Cyrus brought the 80s back with a bang, and Twiggy’s iconic pixie cut made an epic comeback. Yet, as we enter the second part of the 2020s, hairstyles for women are expected to start changing, going from extremely feminine to rather masculine.
Here are three examples of hairstyles experts are already sure will dominate 2025.
The 60s Volume: With stars like Sabrina Carpenter sporting voluminous, luscious curls, more people are now embracing the 1960s trend for larger blowouts. These are often accompanied by face-framing fringes and bangs. This trend has also seen an increase in women using good, old-fashioned rollers more often!
The Boy Bob: Shorter, more structured cuts are also set to make waves in 2025, with the bob being by far the favourite. However, the rise of influencer Nara Smith is expected to spearhead the boy bob, which is characterised by blunt edges and is long enough to be tucked behind the ears.
The Long Pixie: Meanwhile, Twiggy’s signature pixie cut is being married with the bob to create a longer-style pixie cut that is meant to be undone. This adds an air of effortless chic, and can be gelled back, left natural, or set with hairspray.
