This dating trend is set to be huge in 2025

Everyone is predicting that micro-mancing will be the dating trend that will define 2025. But what is it?

Dating trends nowadays seem to come and go at a faster rate than fashion trends, but one newer trend is set to take over 2025—at least according to many news houses.

Called ‘micro-mancing’, which is short for micro romancing, the trend is all about the small, day-to-day gestures, like sending your potential partner a meme you think they’ll find amusing or a song that reminds you of them.

In other words, the grand gestures of old, where you would (at least in movies) spend hours outside someone’s bedroom with a boombox, or taking them to an expensive dinner are somewhat over.

The popularity of this trend isn’t just being hyped up by media houses like LADBible and Times of India alone, however. In a study conducted by dating app Bumble, 86% of the 40,000 people surveyed actually admitted that they favoured micro-mancing.

The reasons behind this shift are also very real and relatable. For a start, people feel that life has become too complicated, busy, and expensive to be able to constantly think of and execute grand gestures. Secondly, micro-mancing allows people to constantly show they’re thinking of each other without going over-the-top.

More importantly, however, micro-mancing can be varied, which also gives potential couples insights into likes, dislikes, sense of humour, quirks, and values—all of which are very important when starting a new, potentially long-term relationship with someone.

So, while micro-mancing is more about doing less, it’s also about getting more out of your subtle gestures.
