The BRICS+ Fashion Summit 2025, held earlier this year, brought together more than a hundred influential figures from the global fashion industry in Moscow.

The international summit gathered fashion week organisers, designers, manufacturing leaders and presidents of chambers of commerce from around the world to discuss the latest developments, opportunities and challenges shaping the fashion sector.

Malta was represented by Adrian J. Mizzi, producer and founder of Malta Fashion Week, who was invited as a special guest speaker. Mizzi shared his insights on the topic ‘Quality vs Quantity,’ addressing how fashion weeks and brands can uphold high standards while maintaining growth and accessibility.

In his address, Mizzi highlighted how Malta Fashion Week has become a distinctive platform that merges artistic expression with cultural tourism. He emphasised that the event not only celebrates fashion as an art form but also serves as a powerful communication tool to showcase the Maltese islands to international audiences.

“Fashion can be more than glamour and design − it can be a cultural bridge and a vehicle for attracting quality tourism,” Mizzi said. “Malta Fashion Week embodies this vision by giving visibility to our islands through creativity and collaboration.”

This year’s summit followed Mizzi’s 2024 participation at BRICS+, where he delivered a talk on ‘How fashion can attract high-quality tourism’.

His continued involvement underscores Malta’s growing presence in the global creative scene and opens new opportunities for local designers, educators and entrepreneurs to collaborate internationally.

With representatives from over 100 countries, the BRICS+ Fashion Summit once again served as a platform for cultural exchange and industry innovation.

Following the summit, participants were also invited to attend shows at Moscow Fashion Week.
