Rotaract Club Malta is organising a photography exhibition and fundraising evening by award-winning photographer Diana Iskander on Friday, May 29.
Frames of Hope presents a deeply human visual journey through Sudan and Egypt, captured over more than a decade of travel.
The exhibition will feature a curated collection of signed photographic works documenting everyday life, resilience and identity across communities often overlooked by mainstream narratives.

The highlight of the evening will be a live auction of three landmark photographs personally selected by Iskander as defining works from the collection. Printed in large format at 60 cm x 90 cm, the pieces will be introduced by the artist herself, who will share the stories behind each image before bidding begins.
All photographs exhibited during the event will be available for purchase exclusively on opening night.
Funds raised will go towards the Tree House Nursery in Cairo, an early education centre serving Sudanese children displaced by conflict, through Rotaract Club Malta.

Founded in August 2023 with only three children, the nursery has grown into a vital educational space serving 30 children aged between six months and five years. The nursery now operates five classrooms led by eight dedicated teachers, offering displaced Sudanese families a place of stability, care and cultural belonging.
Speaking about the exhibition, Iskander said: “Over a decade, I’ve documented the cultures and landscapes of Egypt and Sudan through my lens, but these photographs have never found their public voice until now. This exhibition gave me the motivation to finally bring these framed prints together for a meaningful cause. It feels both vulnerable and vital.”
Born and raised in Hungary with Egyptian roots, Iskander is an internationally recognised photographer whose work explores themes of identity, displacement and cultural dialogue. Her Sudanese photography was previously recognised by the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, reinforcing her belief that photography can act as a form of diplomacy and advocacy.
The evening programme will begin with a welcome reception at 7pm, followed by the photography auction at 8.30pm and exhibition viewing and networking throughout the night. Admission is free.
