Fall in love with pottery

White, handmade earthenware that is an ode to the Villa’s architecture and stunning tablecloths featuring a 16th-century Indian design: Villa Bologna Pottery’s spring collection is bold and beautiful.

Villa Bologna Pottery recently introduced its spring 2023 collection of tableware and accessories, and we are obsessed with it! The purity of form in its Scalloped Collection and the stunning colours of the Chintz Tablecloths are sure to make these creations a show-stopping addition to any table this season.

The elegant Scalloped Collection, featuring plates, bowls, and other serving items fashioned by hand out white earthenware, allows the sculptural shapes to take centre-stage. With its undulating rims forming pleasing silhouettes, these pieces create a wonderful contrast against any colourful tablecloth – but especially the simultaneously-launched Chintz Tablecloths.

Made in Paris, these tablecloths feature a classical design that dates to 16th-century Hyderabad, India, and are as bold as they are sophisticated: there’s one with rich shades of purple and sepia, another in rich blue that evokes the colours of a Mediterranean summer, one with a soft pastel yellow background, and another with green foliage, and pink and red flowers juxtaposed against a classic white background.

Of course, we didn’t expect anything less from this institution, which was established in 1924 by the influential Strickland family. Indeed, Villa Bologna Pottery has long created sophisticated decorative and plain earthenware pieces that are full of character. Among our all-time favourites are the iconic fish-shaped Glug Glug jugs, the coveted Admiral vases, and the playful pineapple design that dates to the 1970s and requires four separate moulds to create.
