A new community arts project is inviting people across Malta to slow down and notice their surroundings in a new way.
Where the Bored Things Are: A Guide to Looking Again, a project by Bored Peach Club, hosts a series of free guided photo walks and writing workshops across several Maltese villages.
The project is guided by Lisa Gwen, Joe Smith, Therese Debono and Leanne Ellul. Together, the team leads participants through a process of observing familiar streets and neighbourhoods through photography and reflective writing.
The initiative is open to anyone of legal age and requires no previous experience in photography or writing. Participants can use their own phones or cameras, and analogue cameras will also be provided for those who need them.

Each participant will attend a guided photo walk followed by a writing workshop linked to the walk. The two sessions together form a shared creative experience focused on paying closer attention to everyday places and moments that often go unnoticed.
Participation is free of charge, but registration is required and places are limited. The work created during the project will be collected in a printed zine and later presented in a curated exhibition at Bored Peach Club, marking the closing of the project.
The project is fully funded by Arts Council Malta through the Right to Culture Fund, which supports initiatives that encourage wider participation in cultural life.

Walks have already been held in Ħamrun and Marsa and Żebbuġ. The next ones are taking place in Balzan, Lija and Attard on May 2 and 3. The May 2 event is fully booked. Few spaces are left for May 3.
Other walks will be held in Marsaxlokk on May 23 and 24.
Writing workshops will take place in May and June. Participants will receive full details after registering. More information and registration details are available at https://boredpeachclub.com/projects/wheretheboredthingsare/.
