A solo exhibition by Vania Goshe is opening at Christine X Art Gallery in Sliema on June 5. Botanica Anima – The Soul of Flowers explores the inner life of flowers as symbolic vessels of memory, emotion and spiritual presence.

Rooted in the tradition of floriography yet reimagined through a deeply personal and contemporary lens, Goshe’s work transforms botanical forms into quiet narrators of the human condition.

At the heart of the exhibition lies the concept ‘Botanica Anima’, derived from the Latin words for ‘plant’ and ‘soul’. The series explores the idea that flowers possess an inner essence capable of mirroring our own emotional and spiritual states.

Romance in Modern Elegance
Pure Intentions

Through delicate yet expressive compositions, the artist transforms blooms into quiet storytellers, reflecting on themes of resilience, silence, devotion, fragility and transformation.

Each work encourages stillness and introspection, offering moments of calm reflection within an increasingly fast-paced world.

Through layered textures, subtle colour harmonies and atmospheric space, Goshe creates paintings that feel suspended between reality and dream. Untethered from specific time or place, the floral forms emerge as universal symbols, allowing viewers to connect with the works through personal interpretation and emotional resonance.

“Each work encourages introspection”

Born in Chirpan, southeast Bulgaria, in 1976, Goshe began her artistic training at an early age and later refined her practice through private mentorships with several prominent Bulgarian artists before pursuing studies in TV and cinema camera operation at the New Bulgarian University in Sofia.

Alongside her career in television and international film production, which included work on live productions such as Big Brother, VIP Brother, and Star Academy, Goshe continued to develop her artistic practice through exhibitions and commissioned works.

The Dance of Vivid Interplay

Since moving to Malta, she has become an active presence in the local art community, earning recognition at the Malta Society of Arts Annual Exhibition and Competition. Her work combines realism and abstraction, using colour, movement and symbolism to create emotionally uplifting visual narratives.

The public can view the exhibition from June 5 to 27 from Tuesday to Saturday 10am-1pm and 4-7pm at Christine X Art Gallery in 53, Tigné street, c/w Hughes Hallet street, in Sliema.
