The 208-page volume features a series of original interviews conducted by Ann Dingli with the exhibiting artists and curators.

Valletta Contemporary will launch VC007 on Wednesday, May 20, with a panel discussion bringing together artists, curators and contributors from the gallery’s 2025 exhibition programme.

Moderated by Giulia Privitelli, the conversation will feature contributions from Gabriel Zammit, Chris Briffa, Cyril Sancereau and Sergio Muscat, reflecting on the ideas, processes and dialogues that shaped the programme throughout the year.

Published in collaboration with the Norbert Francis Attard Foundation, VC007 is a 208-page volume that gathers reflections on Valletta Contemporary’s 2025 exhibitions through newly commissioned essays, exhibition documentation, and a series of original interviews conducted by Ann Dingli with the exhibiting artists and curators.

The publication’s cover

Fully illustrated throughout, the publication approaches the gallery’s programme not simply as an archive, but as an evolving conversation between artistic practice, curatorial research and critical writing.

The catalogue features the exhibitions Wegfliegen, a solo exhibition by Hans Lagner accompanied by an essay from Rachel Abdilla; Cabinet of Curiosities, a solo exhibition by OtGO with an essay by Thomas Eller; Wens, a solo exhibition by Rebecca Bonaci curated by Gabriel Zammit; Art from Elsewhere: Deep Throat, curated by Rachel Rits-Volloch and Emilio Rapana; Opus They, a collective pop-up exhibition featuring Chris Briffa, Raphael Vella, and Michael Quinton; Nothing but the Sea, a solo exhibition by Sancereau; and Memorial Immortal, a solo exhibition by Muscat curated by Sue Falzon, with essay contributions by Muscat, Falzon and Vince Briffa.
