United by a shared passion for visual storytelling, photographers Bernadette Carabott, Martine Ellul and Tessa Mercieca are holding a joint exhibition at Bizzilla Art Space in Floriana next month.
While each artist brings a distinct perspective and style, Triple Exposure reflects a deep commitment to artistic exploration and personal storytelling.
For Carabott, photography has always been intertwined with memory and identity. Inspired by her father’s paintings and a treasured childhood black-and-white photograph, she gradually transformed a spontaneous interest in image-making into a disciplined artistic practice. During her retirement, she embraced manual photography and expanded her technical skills through workshops and specialised courses.
Her work ranges from street photography, macro studies to the fluid abstractions of intentional camera movement (ICM), blending technical experimentation with emotional depth. Her photographs have recently featured in national exhibitions organised by the Malta Photographic Society.

Similarly driven by artistic curiosity, Ellul transformed a lifelong appreciation for traditional art into a passion for what she describes as “painting with light”. Over the past six years, she has refined her skill through continuous learning, workshops and exhibition participation.
Her photography is fuelled by a fascination with discovering beauty in overlooked details and ordinary moments. Whether capturing architectural scenes during her travels, intimate macro compositions or spontaneous portraits, Ellul’s photography reflects both technical precision and a strong sense of curiosity and wonder.
Mercieca’s creative journey began in a richly artistic environment shaped by her father’s paintings, her mother’s culinary artistry, and her grandfather’s gardens. Although she initially experimented with traditional media, her artistic direction changed profoundly after acquiring her first digital camera 10 years ago. Initially drawn to landscapes, she later expanded into street photography during the COVID period, discovering a talent for capturing candid human interactions.
Her current work focuses on birds, wildlife and architecture, combining technical skill with imaginative perspectives that invite viewers to see familiar subjects differently.
Triple Exposure opens at Bizzilla Art Space, Mapfre MSV Life, Triq il-Mall, Floriana, on June 10 and runs until June 30. Opening hours: Monday to Thursday from 9am to 5pm and on Fridays from 9am to 3pm.
